I'm considering applying for UF SSTP, and I'm wondering how much past experience you need to have with the different research areas to get into them and do well in them? I want to apply for the Comp Sci research area, but I only have a very basic understanding of Java (I've taken a beginners course)--do you need to have taken AP Comp Sci and have had lots of programming experience?
Any insight regarding the necessity of past experience for any of the research areas is greatly appreciated!
